TABUK CITY, Kalinga– The city government, through the City Public Information Office (CPIO), is partnering with Smart Communications Inc. to disseminate information through Infocast.
Infocast is a tool to broadcast information to subscribers via text message. Through it, the city government will be able to send out announcements, advisories, updates, and other useful information from its offices and other government agencies.
Mayor Darwin Estrañero encouraged offices and agencies especially barangay local government units to use the platform to reach out to their constituents.
He also urged citizens to subscribe to the service, which he said will be especially useful in times of disasters. “I encourage you to have at least one member of your family to subscribe to be notified of important announcements,” he said.
Subscribing to the service is free and exclusive to Smart, Sun Cellular, and Talk N’ Text subscribers. Steps on how to subscribe to the service will be announced on this page soon.
On October 19, 2022, the offices of the city government and other government agencies that can use the Infocast to relay information attended an orientation hosted by the CPIO headed by Aurora Amilig and Avelino Gamboa Jr., Smart’s trade marketing communities manager for North and Central Luzon.
“It’s about time that Tabuk City has [this] especially during times of disaster or calamities or even in times of festivities so people know what’s happening in our agencies and in our city,” Amilig said.
Among those oriented were the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Tabuk City Police Station, Bureau of Fire Protection-Tabuk, Kalinga-Apayao Electric Cooperative, Department of Trade and Industry-Kalinga, Landbank-Kalinga, Development Bank of the Philippines-Tabuk, barangays, and other agencies and institutions.
Smart said the Infocast is being used in many local government units including Baguio City, Tarlac, Ilocos Norte, Batanes, and La Union.
