City officials recently commended and congratulated Evelyn Due, Carla Ortiz and the staff of Pizza Volante–SM City Baguio for their honesty and integrity.
In a resolution authored by Councilor Isabelo Cosalan, local legislators stated that the actions of the workers align with and exemplify the core values of Baguio as a Character City where citizens and businesses alike are encouraged to act with integrity, responsibility and community spirit.
At around 4 pm of August 22, 2024, a customer who had just finished having coffee inside Pizza Volante–SM City Baguio inadvertently dropped his wallet within this establishment.
Evelyn Due, the cashier on shift in the said establishment, noticed the wallet and immediately took the initiative to pick it up and surrendered it to her supervisor Carla Ortiz.
Further, Evelyn, together with her supervisor Carla, responsibly checked the contents of the wallet, not out of personal interest, but solely to identify the owner and ensure its safe return.
The council claimed that the wallet was found to contain a significant sum of P27,150 along with a calling card that enabled Evelyn, Carla and the rest of the staff to contact the owner.
The staff of Pizza Volante–SM City Baguio under the guidance of Ortiz promptly reached out to the owner of the wallet who was deeply grateful and overjoyed to have his wallet returned with all its contents intact.
The council pointed out that the action of the entire Pizza Volante–SM City Baguio staff exemplify the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and teamwork, reflecting positively on the establishment as a trustworthy and ethical establishment.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to Doe, Ortiz and the staff and management of Pizza Volante–SM City Baguio as a token of appreciation for their outstanding character and commendable actions, serving as an inspiration to others in the community and a shining example of what it means to be a part of Baguio as a Character City.
