City officials recently requested basic education school principals and administrators in the city to designate safe and spacious eating places or areas for learners within their respective school premises and waiting areas for parents.
Under Resolution No. 645, series of 2023, local legislators stated that schools and other learning centers are considered as second homes of learners and are designed to provide adequate avenues for holistic development of every child in the community.
During the Senior Citizens Officials For-A-Day (SCOFAD) session held last October 9, 2023, the SCOFAD Council adopted the proposal of Councilor Nilda Nellie H. Salcedo that earnestly requested all basic education school principals and administrators to designate safe and spacious eating areas for their learners within the school premises and waiting area for parents.
The council claimed it is the policy of the State to give priority to education, science and technology, arts, culture and sports to foster patriotism and nationalism, accelerate social progress and promote total human liberation and development.
Further, Article 2, Section 5 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution provides that the maintenance of peace and order, the protection of the liberty and property, and the promotion of the general welfare is essential for the enjoyment by all the people of the blessings of democracy.
The body stipulated that Baguio City being branded as the center of education in the north ensures that every learner or student is safe and comfortable while continuously getting the quality education they deserve.
Moreover parents, on the other hand, as partners or stakeholders of the schools are also given proper treatment when it comes to the affairs of the school relative to the welfare of their children.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the different basic education school principals and administrators of learning centers for their information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action.
