TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) vows to continue its commitment in strengthening the Empowerment and Reaffirmation of Paternal Abilities (ERPAT) project that gives importance and emphasis on the fathers’ parental roles, responsibilities and abilities for District I.
Through ERPAT, the office sees the significant role of fathers in performing multiple roles in all aspects of child rearing and development including the care and behavior management of their children, and in prevention of all forms of violence.
Social welfare officer Marinel Dorgay said that in order to strengthen the program, the CSWD will conduct more capability building and trainings for implementers and ERPAT members next year.
As ERPAT aims to improve and strengthen fathers’ parenting capabilities in performing their familial tasks and responsibilities, the CSWDO will assist them in playing an active and equal role with their spouses or partners in fostering the optimal development of their children and other family members, as well as taking active leadership in the community in promoting positive family life.
During today’s program review and evaluation, barangays were encouraged to sustain their activities and maintain partnership with various agencies for effective implementation.
The CSWDO believes that by educating fathers about their roles in the family, they will become active partners in the community. By Darwin S. Serion
