City officials recently requested the Bureau of Fire Protection–Cordillera Administrative Region (BFP-CAR), the Baguio Fire Station and other emergency and rescue service providers operating in the city to provide the 128 barangays and all residents their updated emergency hotline numbers.
Under Resolution No. 250, series of 2024, local legislators stated that it is necessary for the emergency hotline numbers to be publicly informed to every citizen for quick and efficient response during emergencies which may transpire anytime.
Earlier, Councilor Maria Mylen Victoria G. Yaranon filed Proposed Resolution No. 0135-24 that invited the Bureau of Fire Protection, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), MRR Queen of Peace barangay officials, the Smart City Command Center and the affected barangay residents regarding the April 13, 2024 fire incident at Purok 3, MRR Queen of Peace barangay.
The council pointed out that the safety and well-being of the city residents are of utmost importance, and in times of emergencies, immediate access to emergency services is crucial.
The body noted that the BFP together with the other emergency and rescue service providers in the city have established their respective emergency hotline numbers for the information of the public.
However, it seems that these emergency hotline numbers are not accessible to some residents, thus, the need for the concerned providers to widely share their respective hotline numbers in various platforms for the information of the public for them to be able to easily access whatever assistance during emergency situations in their places.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the BFP, CDRRMO and other emergency service providers for their information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
