BAGUIO CITY – Classes for private Elementary and Secondary schools of Baguio City this Thursday and Friday, February 22 and 23 have been suspended by the Department of Education (DepEd), Baguio to give teachers and administrators of private schools time to attend the First Private Schools Basic Education Congress.
In DepEd-Baguio’s Division Memorandum 29, S. 2018, Schools Division Superintendent Federico P. Martin announced that the said congress will be held at the PFVR Gym, Military Cut-off, Baguio City, bearing the theme: Meeting the challenges of the 21st Century Education.
He also cited that the activity, conducted by the Association of Private School Administrators – Baguio City (APSA-BC) in partnership with DepEd – Baguio, aims to awaken the consciousness of private schools that coming together for a common cause is the beginning of a collaboration for transformation.
Among the topics to be taken up during the event are: (1) Philippine Quality Framework on DepEd strategic directions until 2030, (2) applying positive discipline in response to the proper implementation of Child Protection Policy and Anti-Bullying Act of 2013, (3) grievance and administrative cases in private schools, (4) research-based practices on curriculum and administrative matters, (5) Data Pivacy Act of 2012, and (6) updates on data management system.
