Manila, Philippines – The Conference of Major Superiors in the Philippines (CMSP), in partnership with various Church and civil society organizations, will hold a “Misa ng Bayan” on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 5:00 PM, at Most Holy Trinity Parish, Calabash Road, Balic-Balic, Sampaloc, Manila.
Held under the theme “Pagkakaisa at Pananampalataya: Sama-samang Panalangin para sa Bayan”, this Eucharistic celebration invites the faithful to gather in prayerful reflection as the country approaches the national and local elections, and as the nation marks Labor Month, honoring the dignity and struggles of Filipino workers.
“This Mass is not only an act of worship; it is a prophetic expression of our desire for truth, justice, and peace in our nation,” said Fr. Lino Gregorio Redoblado, OFM, CMSP Co-Chairperson. “We want to remind the faithful that the Eucharist must lead us to a deeper commitment to nation-building, especially through prayerful and conscientious participation in democratic processes.”
The Misa ng Bayan will bring together religious men and women, Church workers, youth, labor leaders, social advocates, and lay faithful in a communal act of discernment and solidarity. Special intentions will be offered for honest and peaceful elections, the rights and welfare of laborers and marginalized communities, and for national leaders to govern with integrity and compassion.
“In this Jubilee Year, we walk together as Pilgrims of Hope,” shared Mo. Cecilia Espinilia, OP, also CMSP Co-Chairperson. “We believe that shared prayer can renew our courage to face the realities of our time, and move us to faithful and prophetic action.”
The Misa ng Bayan forms part of CMSP’s broader mission to advance Gospel-based social transformation, particularly in times of national discernment and moral urgency.
