Incumbent Congressman Sonny Mangaoang was the overwhelming choice among students from the Kalinga State University in a survey conducted during the, “Know Your Candidates Forum and Election Survey”, event held at the KSU Gymnasium last May 3, 2019.
The Congressional survey results showed Mangaoang garnering 136 votes or 66.01% over last term Governor Jocel Baac’s 58 votes or 28.15%. Some 12 votes did not place their bet for congressman.
Students across the different KSU colleges both in Bulanao and Dagupan Campuses attended the forum and survey that was organized by the College of Public Administration in partnership with the College of Liberal Arts. This activity aims to enlighten the students and faculty of KSU in knowing more the candidates and their stance on key issues affecting the province of Kalinga. That is why a question and answer portion was included in the program, for the candidates to be keenly scrutinized by the audience.
The organizers reminded every candidate, as well as their supporters, that the KSU is a non-partisan academic institution, however, KSU takes stand in issues and concerns that affect the institution and the community. The intention is for the students primarily, to be informed about the various platforms and programs presented by the candidates in order for them to be in the best position to choose the candidate who will represent them in the halls of congress.
