LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Benguet Caretaker Congressman and Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Go Yap expressed his gratitude to Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea for his unwavering commitment to support the development of the province in any way possible for the same to aggressively move forward from its present condition to greater heights.
Yap, who chairs the powerful House committee on appropriations, recently met with Executive Secretary Medialdea to discuss the budget and the priorities of the Office of the President, including the President’s Legislative Agenda.
Aside from the various national concerns, the lawmaker claimed that the duo also talked about his legislative agenda that will benefit Benguet and the Cordillera.
Congressman Yap also brought to the attention of Executive Secretary Medialdea the region’s ongoing advocacy for the establishment of the Autonomous Region of the Cordillera (ARC) as contained in House Bills 5686 and 7778 that he later filed in the House of Representatives.
“The people of Benguet will never be deprived of assistance and social services from the government. We are making sure that public service is delivered in every community, no matter how remote the barangay is,” Congressman Yap stressed.
The Benguet caretaker congressman stated that he will continue to make the appropriate representations with concerned government agencies so that the province will continue to ensure the availability of assistance and services to the people because it will be an injustice to the people if they will be deprived of the programs, projects and activities of the government.
According to him, the priority concerns of Benguet had already been properly ventilated with the officials of the various government agencies during the budget deliberations that had been conducted in the House that is why there is no reason why no concrete programs and projects will be implemented in the different parts of the province next year.
Congressman Yap asserted that for as long as he is the province’s legislative caretaker, various assistance, services and projects will be implemented in the different parts of the province for the benefit of the greater majority of the populace.
He stipulated that although Benguet had been receiving funds for the implementation of high impact development projects, there is a need to sustain the gains of development that had been achieved in the pat so that people in the remote villages will be able to experience having much better services, good state of infrastructure and increase in assistance.
He claimed that even if he is not from Benguet, he already embraced the culture of Benguet as he learned to love the province because of the presence of peace-loving people who put premium to peace, prosperity and unity.
Congressman Yap that his slogan United Benguet was inspired by the people who had been clamoring for development in the rural communities and the need for them to work together to ensure that concerned government agencies will be convinced to infuse funds for overall growth and development. By HENT
