CONNER, Apayao – The municipality celebrated the first Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan (Linking Arms Against Poverty)-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI- CIDSS) Day on last August 1,2024, highlighting the contributions of community volunteers and barangay officials in the implementation of the different projects, being one of the municipalities of Apayao which was benefitted from grants of the program.
KALAHI-CIDSS is a DSWD program aimed at reducing poverty by strengthening community networks and improving the quality of life of the people. Additionally, it provides comprehensive and integrated social services carried out through the use of a community – driven development approach.
It was launched in 2011 as an extension of the government’s ” Ending Poverty is Possible Through Community Empowerment” campaign.
Mayor Jorico F. Bayaua, through his representative John Fao-anan, expressed his sincere gratitude to the dedication of the participants of the Kalahi projects and highlighted the pivotal role of the KALAHI team in underscoring the importance of community-driven development, inspiring and motivating everyone to continue efforts in attaining long-lasting and sustainable development.
On the other hand, the KALAHI Team also expressed their heartfelt thanks to the municipal government, the barangay officials, and the community volunteers for their undeniable support in ensuring the effective implementation of their programs. By Michelle Acantilado
