CONNER, Apayao – Residents in Conner and nearby towns no longer need to travel far for dialysis. The Conner District Hospital (CDH) opened its own dialysis center on June 16, 2025, serving its first three patients on opening day.
Three patients underwent hemodialysis on the center’s first day of operation, eliminating the need to travel to Tuguegarao City for treatment. With this facility now functional, residents of Conner and nearby towns have local access to essential dialysis care.
The new center is equipped with 15 dialysis machines and is managed by trained medical personnel. CDH Nephrologist Dr. Michelle Ann Torrado, along with OIC Medical Center Chief Dr. Oliver Lacambra and OIC Chief of Medical Professional Staff Dr. Ariel Gayadan, welcomed the initial patients and assured them of free services.
This is the third operational dialysis center in the province. Its establishment was funded through the Department of Health’s Health Facilities Enhancement Program (DOH-HFEP), which supports infrastructure development, medical equipment acquisition, and deployment of healthcare workers.
The facility is expected to ease both the financial and logistical burden of yApayaos requiring regular dialysis, aligning with ongoing efforts to expand accessible and affordable health care in the province. By Loremia Pareja
