LUNA, Apayao – The municipal government Conner, through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), conducted a Mountain Search and Rescue (MOSAR) and Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) training from July 22-26, 2024.
This is to equip responders with the skills necessary for effective disaster response. It also provided critical knowledge on reacting to calamities or incidents involving threats to life and property.
Participants included members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines , Philippine National Police, Apayao State College Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, and personnel from the MDRRMO, and BFP.
The training covered important search and rescue skills, including administering Basic Life Support-Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, managing soft tissue injuries, controlling bleeding, and handling victims of sprains, falls, and fractures through proper splinting techniques. It also tackled swim and rope rescue techniques, critical for aiding accident victims.
Regional and provincial BFP trainers, led by SFO2 Claro E. Picpican, ensured the program’s excellence by providing tailored training suited to the participants’ specific needs. By Krizza Joy Castillo
