LUNA, Apayao – Two municipalities from Apayao Province, Conner and Luna, were recognized for their outstanding contributions in the fight against illegal drugs at the 2024 Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Performance Awarding Ceremony on December 11, 2024 held at Tent City, Manila Hotel.
The awards presented by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) highlight the exemplary performance of municipalities in implementing effective anti-drug programs and initiatives.
The ceremony was attended by key figures in the fight against illegal drugs, including DILG-Apayao Provincial Director Engr. Max Mayer Adong, Conner Mayor Jorico F. Bayaua, Luna Mayor Josephine M. Bangsil, Vice Mayor Alexander Aswigue, Conner MLGOO Wilnelia Aceret, Clarissa Magayam, Luna ADAC Focal Person Jackie Lou Garcia, and Luna municipal local government operations officer Joan-ana Dumalsim.
In Conner’s Facebook post, Bayaua expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating that the award is a testament to the collective efforts of the entire community. He emphasized the continued commitment of the local government to strengthen its anti-drug initiatives and create a safer environment for all the residents.
On the other hand, Bangsil credited Luna’s achievement to the unwavering support and dedication of residents, local officials and partner organizations. “This is not just an award for Luna’s leadership but for every member of our community who has worked tirelessly to create a safe and drug-free environment,” she stated. “Let this inspire us to continue our efforts,” she continued.
This award celebrates the significant achievements of these two municipalities in fostering a safer and healthier environment for their residents.
