LUNA, Apayao – The Municipality of Conner has achieved a historic milestone in disaster preparedness, earning its first-ever National Gawad KALASAG Seal.
The award recognizes the municipality’s exceptional compliance with the stringent requirements set by the Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CRDRRMC).
A Memorandum No. 162 s.2024 from the Regional Risk Reduction and Management Council officially informed the municipality of its success. Conner is among 80 municipalities (96.80%) in the region to receive the prestigious seal.
The Gawad KALASAG Seal, a national award, highlights Conner’s commitment to effective DRRM. The municipality’s dedication to preparedness is evident in its comprehensive strategies and proactive measures.
“This is a momentous occasion for Conner,” announced Mayor Joricoe F. Bayaua.
“This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our MDRRMO led by Albert W. Bacuyag and the entire community. It reflects our unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our constituents. We will continue to strive for excellence in disaster preparedness and response,” Bayua said.
Conner will be formally recognized during the national awarding ceremony scheduled on December 17, 2024 in Baguio City. This prestigious award underscores Conner’s commitment to community safety and sets a new standard for disaster preparedness in the region. By Krizza Joy Castillo
