LUNA, Apayao – The much-awaited Panagbunga Festival of the Municipality of Conner is making its return for its 11th year this September.
Scheduled from September 23 to 27, the celebration carts the theme, “Embracing Nature’s Abundance, Preserving Cultural Heritage, and Promoting Agro-Tourism for Prosperity.”
Conner is often dubbed as the Fruit Basket of Apayao and this festivity is perfectly timed during the harvest season of various fruits native to the town. The local crops such as rambutan, lanzones, durian, among others, are expected to be on display and be made available throughout the festivities.
The municipal government of Conner announced the schedule of activities through its Facebook page, and likewise invites everyone to partake in the merriment.
Activities during the Panagbunga Festival
In this time-honored tradition, the festivities will kick off with a ‘Walk for a Cause” on September 23, followed by Canvas Painting competition and Booth competition on the same day.
The municipality will likewise host a Mass Wedding ceremony on the 24th, while on the 25th; a Zumba dance Competition competed in by Inter-LGU Departments will take place, along with an inter-agency cultural presentation during the evening.
The celebration will culminate on the 27th with various activities such as cookfest, and the main highlight, the first ever staging of the Ginoong Conner 2024 Coronation Night.
For the past 11 years, the Panagbunga Festival has been synonymous with the town’s blossoming agro-tourism industry; and this year’s celebration will once again highlight the agricultural roots of Conner as the people’s fruits of labor will come into season. By Jess Christley Marquez
