BAGUIO CITY – ‘Alyansa’ sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial candidate Panfilo ‘Ping’ Lacson wants that all existing government ‘ayuda’ programs should already be consolidated with the ongoing Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) to avoid controversies arising from their implementation by concerned government agencies.
The former senator pointed out that the government’s 4Ps is already covered by a law that defines its parameters and that it has the database of beneficiaries that passed the stringent screening process to ensure that indigent Filipinos will be the ones that will directly reap the benefits of the program.
He claimed that by integrating other government ‘ayuda’ programs with the 4Ps, issues on questionable recipients, anomalies in the identification of beneficiaries among others could be avoided because it will be addressed by the existing 4Ps database which had been diligently prepared by the social welfare department.
Lacon said that there are many issues that had been raised against the other government ‘ayuda’ programs that are currently being implemented up to the extent that there are event concerns being raised on the legitimacy of the list being provided to concerned agencies on the identified beneficiaries of each of the program such as the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AIcs), Medical Assistance to Indigent Patients (MAIP) Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa Ating Disadvantaged and Displaced workers (TUPAD) and the latest Ayuda para sa Kapus ang Kita Program (AKAP).
According to him, the said matter had already been brought to the attention of the concerned government agencies for appropriate action that is why it is now the mandate of the various agencies to consider the proposals on how to effectively and efficiently address the identified issues and concerns.
There has been a public outrage on the alleged blatant violation in the distribution of assistance to recipients of the different government ‘ayuda’ programs because of the reported questionable list of beneficiaries aside from the involvement of politicians in the identification of the recipients and the distribution of funds to the identified beneficiaries.
