TINGLAYAN, Kalinga – A 25-year-old construction worker was arrested by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents after having found in his possession more than P850,000 worth of marijuana plants in a police checkpoint at sitio Ikkel, Tinglayan, here, Monday.
Police Col. Freddie Lasona, Provincial Director of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, said that operatives from the 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company, Tinglayan Municipal Police Station (MPS), and the Provincial Intelligence Unit/Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of Kalinga PPO intercepted the suspect at a checkpoint in Sitio Ikker, Barangay Bugnay, Tinglayan.
The operating units arrested the 25-year-old male suspect, listed as a newly identified drug personality, after they found and confiscated seven bricks and one tubular form of suspected dried marijuana leaves and stalks with fruiting tops, with an estimated weight of 7,000 grams and a standard drug price of P840,000.00, from the suspect’s car.
The inventory and markings of the pieces of evidence recovered were conducted onsite in the presence of the arrested suspect and witnessed by DOJ Representative, Mr. Kelvin Wesh Owek, Media Representative, Ms. Larae Amor Edas Lactao, and Barangay Kagawad of Bugnay, Mr. Francisco Weygan.
The arrested suspect and the seized pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of Tinglayan MPS for documentation and proper disposition. By Dexter A. See
