LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A 31-year old construction worker died after he was stabbed on the different parts of his body by a fellow construction worker during a drinking session at Windy Hill, Western Buyagan, Poblacion, here, Thursday.
Senior Superintendent Floramte Camuyot, officer-in-charge of the Benguet Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Lito Bagangao Singaben, 31, married, steel man, native of Cervantes, Ilocos Sur, and presently residing at Happy Hollow, Baguio City while he named the suspect as Jake Pacio Dingcawat, 22, single, native of Atok, Benguet and a resident of Sadjap, Balili, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed that while the victim and the suspect, together with other construction workers, were having a drinking session within their construction area, a heated altercation suddenly erupted between the two individuals.
At this juncture, the suspect allegedly grabbed a bladed weapon and repeatedly stabbed the victim several times on the different parts of his body before fleeing towards an undisclosed direction.
The victim was rushed by their colleagues to the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH) for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians while the suspect voluntarily surrendered to the police several hours after the incident.
The case is still subject to further investigation and the suspect, who was accompanied by his uncle, is now detained at the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station awaiting the filing of homicide charges against him.
