BAGUIO CITY – A 32-year cook died after he was stabbed to death by a laborer during a drinking session to welcome the New Year at Purok 7, navy Base, here, Tuesday.
Senior Superintendent Eliseo Tanding, City Director of the Baguio City police Office (BCPO), identified the fatality as June Jay Serdeca Alpuerto, 32, single, cook, and presently residing in Purok 7, Navy base, Baguio City while he named the arrested suspect as Jay-ar Dulnuan Lagmay, 23, single, construction worker and presently residing at Purok 7, Navybase, Baguio City.
The police official disclosed that the victim and the suspect, together with some companions, were having a drinking session to celebrate the New Year when the due were engaged in a heated altercation.
After a few moments, the suspect got irked, grabbed a knife and allegedly stabbed the victim several times on the different parts of his body that caused his instantaneous death.
The victim was rushed by their companions to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians due to fatal stab wounds on his chest while responding police personnel were able to arrest the suspect and confiscated the bladed weapon that was used in the stabbing incident.
Tanding said homicide charges are now being readied for filing against the arrested suspect who is now temporarily detained at the Baguio City jail awaiting the disposition of the inquest prosecutor on the case that was filed against him.
