LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The professionalism displayed by the members of the media in reporting the unfolding of the events in the recently concluded electoral process contributed in the realization of a secure and peaceful conduct of the political exercise in the Cordillera, a senior official of the Cordillera office of the Police Regional Office (PRO-CAR) said Thursday evening.
PRO-CAR regional director Police Brig. Gen. David K. Peredo, Jr. said that the media had been consistent in the timely reporting of the unfolding of events from the beginning of the electoral process to the final transmission of results that resulted to the generally peaceful conduct of the elections in the whole region, except for the province of Abra.
He pointed out that what is admirable of the media is that most of them opted to adhere to ethical reportage instead of trying to be the first one to break the news on the unfolding of events in the different parts of the region, thus, such gesture contributed in the overall success that was achieved in ensuring the secure and peaceful elections.
The police official expressed his gratitude to the media for upholding professionalism in reporting about the elections and sticking to what is right that paved the way for the voters to be well informed about the latest advisories about the conduct of the political exercise.
Peredo offered a simple thanksgiving to the media and other sectors that contributed in the overall success of the conduct of the elections in the region during the May 12, 2025 mid-term election.
Peredo rallied the media to continue adhering to the values of trust, transparency and teamwork with the concerned sectors to achieve the goals and objectives of ensuring the conduct of secure and peaceful elections in the future.
According to him, there were some media personalities who wanted to always be the first to break the news relative to the unfolding of events during the elections but most of the media opted not to follow such practice and instead adhered to the implementation of the prevailing rules and regulations and more importantly ethical reportage about election issues and concerns..
He pointed out that the media is a key partner of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in all its endeavors that is why the members of the fourth state should continue upholding their professionalism in the conduct of their trade to avoid future controversies that might affect their integrity and credibility.
