CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union – A neophyte policeman was brought for confinement at the police holding unit here recently after he was relieved for possession of illegal drugs.
Senior Superintendent Angelito Dumangeng, La Union police director, ordered the relief of PO1 Menard Randy Miranda, 25, from the Bauang municipal police station after he was arrested during the implementation of search warrant against his companion Dexter Pascua in Barangay Central West, Bauang.
Dumangeng said the raiding policemen together with elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group led by Supt. Richard Verceles chanced upon by Miranda hiding illegal drugs at a chicken cubicle inside the compound of Pascua.
Policemen subjected Miranda for body search and found in his possession three big sachets of shabu and a caliber 45 pistol.
Miranda, an intelligence officer, was not included in the search warrant but only Pacua who was also caught with three sachets of shabu, illegal drug paraphernalia, and assorted ammunitions.
“He (Miranda) was seen allegedly hiding shabu at a chicken cubicle that’s why he was subjected for body search that resulted to the confiscation of the illegal drugs. We will not tolerate this kind of activities of our policemen. Criminal and administrative charges were already filed against him,” Dumangeng said.
Miranda posted bail for the illegal drug charges while the administrative offenses will be tackled by the police’s internal affairs service.
