BAGUIO CITY – A 43-years old policeman died after he allegedly shot himself with the use of his own service firearm inside his room at No. 49 New Lucban here Friday dawn.
Senior Superintendent George D. Daskeo, acting city director of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), identified the victim as PO# Roman Waguis Canuto, 43, married, a member of the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station, who is currently undergoing a Junior Leadership Course at the Cordillera Administrative Region Training School (CARTS) based in Teachers Camp, Baguio City.
Initial police investigation showed the victim arrived home and immediately proceeded to his room on the said date.
After a few moments, his brother, Roger Canuto, heard a gunshot that emanated from his room prompting him to immediately look on what happened inside.
Upon opening the door of the victim’s room, he saw his lifeless body sprawled on the floor with blood oozing from his head and his .9mm service firearm was located near him.
He was immediately rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
The case is still undergoing an indepth investigation to ascertain the motive of what prompted him to take his life.
