BAGUIO CITY – The Cordillera office of the Department of Education reported that the enrollment rate of learners in basic education reached around 9262 percent for school year 20222-2023 in spite of the gradual resumption of in person classes.

Based on the data obtained from the agency’s learner information system the enrollees in the elementary level reached 221,152 learners which is equivalent to 93.41 percent compared to the learners enrolled during the previous school year, 2021-2022, which was 236,764.

Further, enrollees in the junior high school for school year 2022-2023 reached 130,842 or 01.03 percent compared to the enrolled learners the previous school year which was 143,741.

For senior high school, the enrollees for the present school year is 63,217 or 93.38 percent compared to the enrollees during the previous school year which was around 67,700.

On the other hand, enrollees in the elementary level in the public schools regionwide for the present school year reached around 204.687 or approximately 93.19 percent compared to the enrollees during the previous school year that reached 219,638.

For junior high school, the enrolled learners for school year 2022-2023 was around 102,103 or 91.01 percent compared to the enrolled learners during the previous school year which was around 113,068.

Enrollees in the senior high school during the present school year reached 42,859 or 99.20 percent compared to the enrollees during the previous school year which was around 43,203.

Overall, the enrollees in the various levels of basic education in the public schools for the present school year reached 350,449 or 93.23 percent compared to the enrollees during the previous school year which was 375,909.

The learners enrolled in the private schools for the current school year was recorded to be around 15,897 in the elementary level or 96.19 percent compared to the elementary learners enrolled during the previous school year which was recorded to be around 16,526.

Moreover, junior high school enrollees in the private schools for the present school year was around 26,549 or 90.84 percent compared to the enrollees for the past school year that was pegged at 29,226.

Senior high school learners who enrolled in the private schools for the present school year was recorded to be around 18,924 or 82.80 percent compared to the senior high school learners enrolled in the past school year which was around 22,855.

The total number of learners enrolled in the different private schools regionwide for the present school year reached 61,370 or 89.45 percent compared to the enrollees in the past school year which was around 68,607.

Aside from those enrolled in the said levels of basic education, the agency also recorded some 2,570 learners who were enrolled in the alternative Learning system which was 29.65 percent compared to the previous ALS enrollees which reached around compared to the 8,667 enrollees during the previous school year.

Earlier, the education department opened the enrollment in all levels in all public and private schools in the country from July 25 to August 2022 to allow the students to be able to adjust in the implementation of the limited in person classes from August 22, 2022 up to the end of  October and the resumption of full face to face classes by November 2, 2022.
