BAGUIO CITY – The Cordillera Judo Association (CJA) announced its forthcoming Judo referees seminar and tournament in preparation for the Batang Pinoy Games that will be hosted by Baguio City this September.
In an interview with Sensei Ferdinand Cudao, Willy Dino, and NR Ily Cudao, a Judo Referees refreshers course will be conducted on August 25, 2018 to update them of the recent changes in the rules and regulations of Judo. Cudao added the refreshers course is needed as Baguio City referees will facilitate the games as judges and main referees.
On the other hand, senseis Cudao and Dino added that even with the regular training, “our Judokas need to be exposed in tournaments to further build their confidence and hands on experience on the changes of competition rules”.
Meanwhile, CJA officials are in the process of preparations for the tournament and practicum of referees, which is set on August 26, 2018. The tournament, dubbed as Judo Founders Cup Invitational Tournament, is in commemoration of Baguio City Judo pioneers and founding father Sensei Bebjamin M. Caguioa.
The tournament shall feature three divisions and categories: Kids, Juniors and Seniors.
The Kids’ division shall include 7-9 years old, 10-12 years old, and 11-15 years old for Judokas participating in the Batang Pinoy. The Juniors Division is for participants with age ranging from 15-20 years old while the Seniors Division is for 21 years and above.
