LA TRINIDAD, Benguet December 10 – Police visibility and patrol operations by the personnel of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Cordillera are expected to significantly increase in the coming weeks to deter the commission of crimes and further improve the peace and order situation in the region following the distribution of forty-six brand new mobile patrol cars to the different operating units regionwide.
Police Lt. Col. Freddie M. Loazona, chief of the PRO-COR’s regional logistics and research development division, disclosed that of the 46 Personnel Carriers (Toyota Hi-lux 4×4), Abra PPO received 19 vehicles while Kalinga PPO received 8 vehicles; 3 for Apayao PPO; 2 for Benguet PPO, and 7 vehicles for Ifugao PPO and Mt. Province PPO.
On the other hand, Police Brig. Gen. Mafelino Bazar, PRO-COR regional director, stated that the new vehicles will help PROCOR with the attainment of its target of less than five minutes’ response time for police assistance.
“Nung una pa lang, ang gusto natin ay makaresponde ng mabilis ang ating mga tauhan sa bawat paghingi ng tulong ng ating mga kababayan. Dahil may mga bago na tayong sasakyan, malaking magiging tulong nito para maabot natin yung gusto natin na response time, PBGen Bazar said.
This latest procurement was funded through appropriations for the Capability Enhancement Programs (CEPs) 2019, 2021, and 2022 worth P 761,219,682.00 and has passed the functional and endurance test ensuring that specifications provided by the PNP were followed accordingly.
One of the marching orders of the regional director when he assumed office in the region is for the police personnel to respond to calls for help in 5 minutes to be able to effectively and efficiently discharge their duties and responsibilities as peace officers. By Dexter A. See
