LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Department of Health – Cordillera Administrative Region (DOH-CAR) in partnership with the Zuellig Family Foundation hosted the Universal Health Care (UHC) Regional Convention in Baguio City recently with the theme “Limitless, Borderless, Boundless: Strengthening Leadership, Transforming Health Systems, and Building Partnerships.”
The convention was attended by various LGUs and stakeholders in the healthcare industry from different parts of the Cordillera Region.
Benguet Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas presented the province’s best practices and experiences on organizing the Health Care Provider Network (HCPN) and the creation of the Special Health Fund (SGF). The City Government of Baguio also presented their own best practices in relation to UHC.
Benguet is among the identified UHC advanced implementation sites (AIS) in the country.
During the convention, several topics were presented, including the “Bayang Malusog: Provincial Leadership Development Program Roadmap,” updates on health financing and the Special Health Fund, the Konsulta Package and status updates on the Konsulta Registration Process of Facilities, Indigents, and Constituents, and the 2022 Annual Local Health System Maturity Level Report, Regional Roadmap, and Ways Forward.
A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was also signed between the Department of Health-CAR (DOH-CAR) and the University of the Philippines College of Public Health (UP CPH) Foundation during the convention. The MOU aims to strengthen partnerships and collaboration in promoting UHC in the region.
The Regional Convention highlighted the significance of partnership among stakeholders in achieving the goal of UHC not only in the region but in the entire country as well. By SAP Jr.
