BAGUIO CITY June 11 – The number of Corona Virus Disease (COVID) cases in the cordillera continues to increase following the increasing testing capacity of the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC), the designated sub-national testing center in Northern Luzon.
In Abra, the latest COVID patient is a 27-year old female who is a close contact of the 32-year old health worker of the Seares Memorial hospital that earlier tested positive for the deadly virus.
In Benguet, the two latest confirmed patients include 30-year old police officer, who is a resident of Interior Betag, La Trinidad and ssigned at the Camp Dennis Molintas in Bangao, Buguias and a 54-year old barangay tanod from Dalupirip, Itogon town.
In Ifugao, the latest COVID patient is a 30-year oold male Overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Saudi Arabi while in Kalinga, a 51-year old OFW from Abu Dbi who was fetched by the local government from the Cagayan stadium in Tuguegarao city, Cagayan was the province’s second COVID case. The patient is a resident of Dgupan West, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
At present, the Cordillera has a total of 62 cases where Baguio City has 36, Benguet – 16 cases, Abra – 5 cases, Ifugao 3 cases and Kalinga – 2 cases.
To date, Mountain Province remains to be the only province in the Cordillera that is COVID-free.
