City officials recently lifted the earlier declaration of a state of calamity in the city.
In a resolution authored by all the members of the local legislative body, local legislators stated that considering that the city has already overcome the wrath of the previous disasters due to the efforts of all key departments and offices of the local government as well as the volunteers, there is already a need to lift the declaration of the city under a state of calamity.
Due to the damages caused by Supertyphoon Egay that hit the country last July 25, 2023, the council passed Resolution n No. 494, enhanced southwest monsoon and Typhoons Goring and Hana that successively struck the most parts of Northern Luzon last August that contributed in inflicting more damages to public and private properties of 2023 placing the city under a state of calamity.
The said declaration provided easier access by the local government to additional resources, streamlined assistance efforts, enabled the city to provide support to the affected residents, businesses, and infrastructure, among others.
The wrath of Supertyphoon Egay was aggravated by the prevalence of the enhanced southwest monsoon and Typhoons Goring and Hana that successively struck most parts of Northern Luzon last month.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the various offices of the local government and concerned regional line agencies for their information, guidance, ready reference and appropriate action.
