TABUK CITY, Kalinga – An elderly couple died after they were shot to death by still unidentified assailants while they were having a dinner inside their residence at Bantay, here, Monday night.
Police authorities identified the fatalities as Marcelo Mangawit Magadang, 64, preacher and his wife Marcelina Babate Magadang, 67, housewife, both residents of Bantay, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
Initial police investigation showed the victims were having dinner inside their residence when the still unidentified suspects suddenly barged into their house and repeatedly fired at them several times hitting them on the different parts of their bodies.
The victims were immediately rushed by their concerned neighbors to the Almora General Hospital for medical treatment but they were declared dead on arrival by attending physicians due to multiple gunshot wounds on their bodies.
Responding police operatives and elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team recovered from the crime scene five empty shells and a slug of a calibre 5.56 rifle that was used by the suspect in the perpetration of the crime.
The motive of the incident has yet to be established while the suspects are now the subject of a manhunt operation by the responding police operatives.
