TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The City Public Information Office (CPIO) organized a meeting today to introduce the new reporting format for cases of vehicular traffic accidents in the city.
The meeting, presided by Eisenhower Bucalen of CPIO, was called with the aim of coming up with a uniform and more complete reporting of details involving VTAs.
Participants during the meeting provided their insights to ensure the suggested reporting format meets requirements of completeness.
Included in the new format of the report for VTA cases that were uploaded using a Google Form are the name of the reporting agency, the year, time, and location of the incident, the casualty data (fatality, serious injury, minor injury), the age, gender, and the name of the VTA victim, including the driver, passenger, pedestrian, or bystander.
Additionally, the new form will request the type of vehicle involved, the car plate number, the primary reason of the accident (self-accident, pedestrian, collision), and the reasons for the apprehension (violation, age, and gender of the individual involved).
This initiative of the CPIO is just one aspect of the ongoing communication research entitled “Road safety starts with you: Comprehensive road safety education” aimed at promoting over-all road safety, focusing on traffic laws, obeying speed limits, and sharing of road responsibility.
During the meeting, it was agreed that the CPIO will use the 2023 and 2024 report on VTA prepared by the Tabuk City Police Station (TCPS), using the new reporting format. The result will be used for the CPIO’s IEC on VTA which will be published online.
Meanwhile, reporting agencies like TCPS, Tabuk City Fire Station, Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) and the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management (CDRRM) were told to utilize the new form to record the details of VTA incidents, once all inputs about the form are incorporated.
Once finalized, all reports after the first quarter of the year will be submitted to CPIO for consolidation and publication.
In attendance during the meeting are PLTCOL Benson Macli-ing of TCPS, SFO4 Romarico Dacuycuy III OF BFP Tabuk, Merriam Buslig of POSO, Raul Albert of CDRRM, and CIO Aurora Amilig, and other staff of the reporting agencies. By Darwin S. Serion
