TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Among the 750 traffic violations in Tabuk from April to June this year, the City Public Order and Safety Office (CPOSO) recorded 170 colorum tricycle vehicles that were apprehended for violation of the provisions of the City Franchising Ordinance.
CPOSO Head Domingo Burcio said that among the traffic violations, colorum vehicles remain the highest on the list of violations of the traffic rules in the city.
He explained that according to their records, they are still non-compliant with the ordinance despite their vigorous campaign against colorum tricycles in the city, with a penalty of P1,500.00.
Burcio stated that since the City Franchising Ordinance was enacted last year, the task force
has given motorists adequate time to comply.
In order to intensify their campaigns against colorum tricycles, they continue to conduct checkpoint operations in barangays Bantay, Lanna, Masablang, Cudal, Bulo, Agbannawag, and the other urban barangays.
Burcio appealed to all tricycle drivers and owners to secure their franchise with the city government to be able to operate legally.
The CPOSO also clarified that those apprehended vehicles can be impounded, but in some instances, motorists leave their licenses or plate numbers voluntarily with the apprehending authority.
Aside from the CPOSO, other support members in the task force implementing the ordinance are the Philippine National Police, Highway Patrol Group, Land Transportation Office, City Business Permits and Licensing Office, City Treasury Office, City Legal Services Office, and the City Public Information Office.
