BAGUIO CITY – A notable drop in crime was recorded in Baguio City during the Holy Week in 2025, based on the comparative data released by the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO).
From April 13 to 19, 2025, the BCPO reported zero incidents under the eight focus crimes or index crimes murder, homicide, physical injuries, rape, robbery, theft, and carnapping of both motor vehicles and motorcycles. This reflects a 100% decrease from the same period in 2024, which reported a total of eight (8) cases involving physical injuries, rape, robbery, and theft.
This significant reduction in criminal activity was achieved through BCPO’s sustained efforts, including intensified patrol operations, heightened police visibility through deployment of personnel in strategic areas, and close coordination with community stakeholders and barangay officials.
As Baguio City experienced a peaceful Holy Week, PCol. Ruel D. Tagel emphasized the importance of consistency in law enforcement initiatives. He also encouraged the public to be aware and cautious of their surroundings, report suspicious activities, and follow ordinances. He then assures that BCPO will consistently carry-out its mission to create a secure environment through innovation, collaboration, and integrity-driven services.
“The Baguio City Police Office remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring peace and order not only during the Holy Week but also this election period and throughout the year. We will maintain persistently the highest level of vigilance and proactive policing as part of our ongoing efforts to safeguard the community and ensure public safety,” said PCol. Ruel D. Tagel.”
