TABUK City, Kalinga – In today’s program review and evaluation for solo parents of District 1, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) presented the assessment tool used to gauge the performance of every solo parent organization in the city for the year 2024.
Judith Kaye Sangdaan, Social Welfare Officer IV of CSWDO, presented the key areas as the basis for evaluation, which are organization (membership, management of funds, meetings conducted, plans, reports, and documentation of good practices), community development participation (participation in solo parents month celebration, attendance to stress management seminar, and membership in people’s organization), and productivity and skills development.
Sangdaan reminded the participants that all activities planned to be undertaken should be aligned with the key areas in the assessment tool.
The solo parent group, according to Social Welfare Officer III Marinel Dorgay, is a federation of women’s organizations created in the local government units to help and empower women.
Additionally, she stated that solo parents are a vulnerable group that should not be left behind in terms of services.
She assured that the CSWDO is always willing to help solo parents by upholding their rights.
A solo parent who attended the event described the sacrifices in raising and caring for their children on their own as something heroic, applauding their bravery and fortitude in taking on this challenging role. By Darwin S. Serion
