TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Workers of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) successfully organized a two-day training program on stress management and debriefing, October 30-31, at the North Lane Inn.
Lorna Lumuioan, the team leader from the Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) Office-Kalinga, served as the main speaker for the activity.
Her expertise and guidance were instrumental in equipping the participants with techniques and strategies to effectively manage stressful situations that may lead to destruction and discomfort for those affected.
In her lecture, Lumioan emphasized that stress debriefing is a critical component of psychological first aid. Volunteers and social workers must understand the importance of conducting stress debriefing properly in order for them to provide the best support for those who need it.
Throughout the two-day program, CSWD workers, most of whom are social workers, gained valuable insights and practical experience in stress debriefing techniques, ensuring that the process concludes on a positive note.
According to Marinel Dorgay, social welfare officer of the CSWDO, the primary objectives of this training is to increase the understanding of stress burnout and its various coping strategies by providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of stress, which they can better identify and address it in themselves and those they are assisting.
Dorgay added that the activity offers activities and practices that reduce stress and promote the well-being of the workers. It is crucial that those providing support are also equipped to maintain their own mental and emotional health.
In a message from City Information Officer Aurora Amilig, she said that intervention from volunteers and social workers is necessary in any stressful situation.
She lauded the CSWD workers for their dedication, resilience and sacrifices in providing support for individuals facing difficult situations such as those victims of natural disasters.
Stress management, which is a component of critical incident stress debriefing aims to mitigate the impact of a traumatic incident, and facilitates the normal recovery processes and restores adaptive functions in psychologically healthy people who are distressed by an unusually disturbing event.
