TABUK CITY, Kalinga– The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) provided food packs to at least 80 Pag-asa Youth Association (PYA) members who were in need in District I.
According to Social Welfare Assistant Alexa Mae Barrera, the food packs include hygiene kits in addition to five kilos of rice, canned products, chocolate and milk powder, and vegetable oil.
According to Barrera, the beneficiaries were chosen by the PYA officials and confirmed by the relevant CSWDO officials.
In addition to helping PYA members who fall into the category of the poorest of the poor, this initiative will also encourage other barangays to create their own PYA groups so that they can benefit from the various services the city government offers for the empowerment of young people, Barrera stated.
Now a regular intervention, the CSWDO is targeting more PYA members to receive assistance particularly amongst the out-of-school and disadvantaged young people.
