TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) is aiming to top the upcoming region-wide functionality assessment covering the year 2021 and the first quarter of 2022.
CSWDO chief Susana Daluping said their office is now preparing all the necessary documents to pass the assessment’s exhaustive criteria ahead of the pre-assessment scheduled this August.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regularly conducts assessment of SWDOs to measure their performance. Previously, Tabuk garnered ‘silver’ alongside Balbalan with a rating of 2.7 out of 3 in the assessment of the DSWD-Cordillera, Daluping said.
Daluping said they are aiming to ace the assessment this time as it would serve as validation of the CSWDO’s good performance. “Awan met actually ti incentive na [if we top the assessment]. Kayat mi lang ipakita nga functional ti CWSDO tayo,” she said.
Daluping said the CSWDO stands out among SWDOs with its full implementation of the Magna Carta for Social Workers. Daluping said the CSWDO is also well-staffed and adequately funded, which she credits to Mayor Darwin Estrañero.
The office has also been complimented for its Social Protection and Development Report or SPDR, Daluping said.
Daluping said to ace the assessment’s criteria, they are working on their identified areas of improvement including strengthening the Local Council for the Protection of Children or LCPC and the Local Committees on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children or LCAT-VAWC, among others.
As the welfare arm of the city government, the CSWDO is one of the biggest offices of the city government and is in charge of implementing an array of programs and services for the vulnerable population from children to senior citizens.
