METRO MANILA – Ferdie Cudao bagged 2 gold and 1 silver medal in the two day competition of the 1st URCC United Grapplers Cup recently held at the Mall of Asia, here, last November 4-6, 2016.
Pushing his way to the top in the competition, Cudao a local Judo instructor of the YMCA-KAITAGI Judo Club and former SEA Games and ASEAN player and former member of the Judo Philippine Team and presently the Cordillera Judo Association Regional Coach, used his expertise and experience in Judo to best his opponents in the Masters Open- No-Gi (no uniform) category to bag his first gold medal. He then went for his second gold medal in the Masters Open with Gi (with uniform) category. His third attempt for gold in the Masters merge Advance Category for thirty years old and above event, however, failed as he lost his last fight in the final round and settled for silver medal.
Participated in by athletes from different martial arts discipline, the two day competition was a show of talents and skills that included; Jiu-jitsu, Judo, MMA, wrestling and other martial arts that incorporated grappling in their techniques. More than one hundred and fifty participants from different Martial Arts Clubs from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao registered in the competition sponsored by the Jiu-jitsu Martial arts.
