LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – In the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship, the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera (DA-CAR) organized a two-day team building activity on December 9-10, 2024 at the Benguet Sports Complex, Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet.
The team building activity featured various games that engaged employees in friendly and collaborative competition. Among them were basketball shooting, giant volleyball, tug-of-war, and Laro ng Lahi such as kayabang relay, kadang-kadang patintero, and tumbang preso. The employees also enjoyed additional games such as egg relay, dodgeball, blow the candles, hula-hoop relay, math game, garter race, darts, and dress-up balloon.
Further, the employees were divided into three (3) teams namely Team White under DA-CAR Regional Executive Director (RED) Atty. Jennilyn M. Dawayan, which comprises the Field Operations Division, Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division, and Regional Agricultural Engineering Division. While the Research Division, Regulatory Division, and Integrated Laboratory Division belonged to Team Yellow, headed by Regional Technical Director (RTD) for Operations Danilo P. Daguio.
The Team Blue led by RTD for Research, Regulations and Integrated Laboratories Dr. Arlene M. Sagayo composes the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Division, Administrative and Finance Division, Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Information Section, Agricultural Program Coordinating Offices, and special programs Philippine Rural Development Program, and Special Area for Agricultural Development.
RED Dawayan highlighted the significance of the activity as a platform to build stronger interpersonal connections and bolster teamwork. “While we are competing through this activity, we are still trying to hold our teamwork, camaraderie, and our core values as enunciated in our ISO Quality Policy,” RED Dawayan expressed, adding that the activity provided an opportunity to build rapport and get to know each other, particularly with the addition of new faces in the office.
RTD Daguio stated that the team-building activity aims to enhance camaraderie among everyone in the Department. “Let us set aside our official business worries for a while and enjoy each other’s company. This is our chance to get to know one another better and release the tensions that have built up over the past few months,” he said.
In closing, Dr. Sagayo expressed her gratitude to all participants for their enthusiasm and hoping the event strengthened bonds among colleagues.
The overall results of the team-building activities will be announced on December 23, 2024, as additional activities planned for the coming weeks will contribute to the final scoring of each team. By Cy-j E. Waytan
