BAGUIO CITY – Close to 600 farmers and fisherfolk coming from the six provinces and two cities in the Cordillera region were given the opportunity by the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera (DA-CAR) to be updated on the latest programs, projects, and technologies of the department and its partner agencies and private agricultural input providers through the conduct of the Agri-Serbisyo Fair on May 29, 2025 in Burnham Park, Baguio City.
The event is part of the culminating activity of this year’s celebration and observance of the Farmers and Fisherfolk Month. DA-CAR AMAD Agribusiness Industry Support Section Chief Efren Lorenzo explained the conduct of the Agri-Serbisyo Fair seeks to provide farmers and fisherfolk with a closer one-stop shop of knowledge, products, and services coming from government and private partners of the DA.
“The conduct of the Agri-Serbisyo Fair gives the farmers and fisherfolk the opportunity to be informed on various projects, programs, and collaborative efforts undertaken by the department and its government and private sector partners. This includes the introduction of new technologies by our private partners that our farmers and fisherfolks may opt to use to improve and increase their production and yield in their farms,” Lorenzo said.
The Agri-Serbisyo fair also enabled the private agricultural input suppliers to market and network with the participants, establishing market links between and among them for their agricultural products.
Participating agencies are the DA-CAR featuring its banner programs on Rice, Corn, High Value Crops, Organic Agriculture, and Livestock, including the Baguio Animal Breeding and Research Center (BABRC), Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), Accredited Trading Institute, Agricultural Training Institute Cordillera (ATI-CAR), Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), Land bank of the Philippines (LBP), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), and the City of Baguio.
For the private partners, participating companies were the Harbest Agribusiness Corporation, Filipino Inventors Society, JHPWL Enterprise, and GainPro Philippines, Inc., Enviro Scope Synergy, Inc., Allied Botanical Corp., and Wlex Corporation Phil. They showcased their new technologies and innovative products for the better appreciation of the agricultural stakeholders.
With the theme, “Makabagong Magsasaka at Mangingisda, Susi sa Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas”, the month-long celebration emphasizes the important roles of the agricultural and fishery workers in the Cordillera through the different activities slated for the month, like the Agri-Serbisyo Fair, ensuring that local farmers and fisherfolk in the region are properly recognized.
