BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office-Cordillera Administrative Region (DA-RFO-CAR) Regulatory Division spearheaded the updating of municipal counterparts on the regulatory laws implementation in the region here in the capital town on December 3, 2024.
In coordination with the provincial government through the Provincial Veterinary Office, the activity was attended by personnel from the different municipal agriculture offices and the business permits licensing offices in the province.
According to Eunice W. Beta-a of the DA-RFO-CAR Regulatory Division, the activity aims to inform the participants on the registration and licensing activities of the agency. She said that the activity is also an avenue to set goals on how to effectively implement registration and licensing activities in the municipal government units.
Meanwhile, the message of Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. was relayed by Community Affairs Officer June C. Pinayakan. He assured the full support of the provincial government to the programs and activities of the DA in the province.
He said that the DA needs to license and register animals and animal facilities to maintain the safety of foods and animals.
In support of public safety, Pinayakan shared that the provincial government has passed a quarantine ordinance to regulate the movement of animals and prevent the spread of economically impactful livestock diseases in the province.
Moreover, the resource persons of the activity were Michael W. Bugtong, Eunice W. Beta-a and Magdalena B. Capis, all from the DA-RFO-CAR Regulatory Division.
Among the topics shared were the salient features of and briefers on the Food Safety Act of 2023 (RA 10611) and its registration procedures for PhilGAP and GAHP; Animal Welfare Act (RA 8485) as amended and its registration procedures and DILG MC No. 2016-13; and DA Administrative Order 8 series of 2004 and its registration procedure.
