PEÑRRUBIA, Abra – A total of 100 livestock farmers were oriented on the different programs, projects and activities (PPAs) of the Department of Agriculture (DA) – National Livestock Program on May 14, 2024, in Peñarrubia, Abra. This event was organized in response to the request of Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin to present the PPAs available under the National Livestock Program, that the farmers across the region can avail of to help uplift the livestock population in the country.
Moreover, the activity also showcased the projects that can be implemented through the different farmers’ cooperatives and associations in Abra. These projects such as the Integrated National Swine Population Initiatives Repopulation and Expansion Project aims to assist the region in increasing the supply of livestock and provide livelihood for livestock farmers.
The specific PPAs were presented by Mr. Jayvee P. Canor, Livestock Program Report Officer, together with Mr. Alvin Paul Dirain, Deputy Program Director of the DA-National Livestock Program, and Mr. Allen Joseph Canta, commodity focal for feeds. The participants were informed of the available interventions, as well as the qualifications and minimum requirements for each intervention.
Furthermore, the participants were engaged in a relevant discussion on the process flow of requesting the projects and programs. Basic requirement reiterated to availing of agricultural assistance is that compliance to the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture for individuals and civil society organization accreditation for groups.
Other key agri-stakeholder representatives who participated in the activity were Peñarrubia Mayor Jane M. Cecilia, DA-CAR Abra Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer Dr. Rosemarie Tesoro, Former Abra Governor Mr. Eustaquio P.
