TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Continuing their passion to keep their barangay clean, the barangay government of Dagupan Centro distributed 55 units of garbage stands throughout their barangay.
The distribution of garbage stands was a project of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), led by SK President Reamcy Mar Adong, Jr.
According to Curt Jan Mejia, Treasurer of Dagupan Centro SK, the project’s goal is to promote cleanliness, preserve the environment, encourage a healthier lifestyle, and inspire and empower the community—especially the youth- to become agents of change.
“Kayat mi ma-implement daytuy project dituy ayan mi ta it provides greater help nga maiwaras basuraan ta maiwasan/ma-lessen basura nga mai war-wara,” he said.
Mejia then said that they have distributed 55 garbage stands in every street in their barangay and have placed three stands on each block.
“Approximately, mga 55 garbage stands po ang napagawa, per street and per kanto po ay tatlo ang mailalagay,” he said adding that two stands will be placed at the opposite ends of the block and one in the middle.
When asked about the maintenance of the garbage stands and bags, Mejia said that it will be the duty of the Dagupan Centro SK to continuously monitor them and change the garbage bags when full.
“Every week nga i-min-maintain mi nga SK Council ken al-alaen dagidiay basura and we ensure nga maitultuluy mi iti panag-collect ti garbage,” he said.
Finally, Mejia stated that the SK Dagupan Centro Federation intends to carry on their current endeavor with their predecessors and expressed their excitement and pride in it.
Along with reminding visitors to observe the laws and always dispose of their waste in the designated areas, he also asked other Dagupan Centro residents to assist in keeping their barangay clean. By Edward Joseph Gacuya
