A Child’s DREAM Foundation, Inc. is celebrating their 15th year of service and as part of their milestone festivities, they are conducting a is a one of a kind summer day camp named Dare to DREAM camp on June 22-24, 2018 (Friday to Sunday). The Dare to Dream Camp is a three day camp for 15 differently abled children matched with 15 neurotypical children to be held from at the Maryknoll Ecological Sanctuary in Baguio City.
In collaboration with partner organizations in order to ensure a most memorable anniversary, the organization considered this 7th of 15 events to be the most exciting event. The camp is an educational program for differently abled and neurotypical children to interact and learn together in a safe and open environment.
While summer camps like this have been enjoyed by children through the years, this is the first one solely for exceptional kids here in Baguio. The goal of the camp is to help the children be confident, creative, purposeful, and inspired as being part of our bigger community.
Thirty children will come together to celebrate unity and diversity. It will be run by the Camp Director Dr. Francis Xavier Dimalanta, a developmental & behavioural pediatrician. The staff is composed of A Child’s DREAM Foundation teachers, volunteers from Children’s International Summer Village and those from partner organizations like DENR – Department of Environment & Natural Resources, Step Learning Academy, Magicians Foundation, Inc., Musikgarten, & 1st Allegro Dance Studio. The 15 adult volunteers and junior counselors are all properly trained to handle the special needs of the child participants. Parents and/or guardians will accompany the children.
The Dare to Dream Camp is a unique program because it is theme-based with specific educational goals; it provides a safe and open environment for children with special needs to learn and have fun; and it teaches the participants about the values of cooperation, teamwork, respect, human rights, understanding, justice, and peace. Activities include puppet making, painting, gardening, dancing, sports and storytelling.
A Child’s DREAM Foundation, Inc.! 2018 is Baguio City’s first pediatric therapy center for exceptional children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Behavioral Problems, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Language Disorders, Down Syndrome, Giftedness, hearing and Vision Problems, Learning Disability, or Sensory Impairments.
