Baguio City- The schools division of Benguet had back-to-back preliminary activities last Sep. 19th-20th and 23rd-24th at Ecolodge, Magsaysay Avenue in preparation for the First Benguet Teachers and Learners Research Conference on Oct. 21-23, 2019.
The first wave centered on abstract and journal writing among research advisers and Advocacy in Strengthening and Honing the Abilities of Learners (ASHAL) writeshop among teacher-researchers on Sep 19-20 with participants oriented on the mechanics of the workshop by Georgina Ducayso, PhD, Mark Aljun Valenciano, Decenia Cabacab and Rose Kayee Pecay followed by the workshop proper.
Moreover, Internal Panel of Reviewers identified on Sep. 2nd the studies to be included in the congress from the research proposals and completion reports submitted in the division office last Aug. 27th.
Meantime, faculty members from the Benguet State University lead by Percyveranda Lubrica, PhD, lectured on qualitative and quantitative research among research advisers, technical working group and district coordinators to update the participants for them to offer better technical assistance in their respective districts.
Further, Lubrica encouraged the inclusion of the Search for the Outstanding Teacher-researcher during the Annual Teachers’ Day celebration in September to motivate teachers and make research a culture in the province.
The preliminaries ended through reminders and updates on research from Xylene Kinomis, head of Benguet division planning and research unit.
