Wangal, La Trinidad- The Department of Education- Cordillera Administrative Region (DepEd-CAR) digitized learning resources (LRs) with updated Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) Applications on April 10-12 at National Educators Academy of the Philippines-Region (NEAP-R), Wangal, La Trinidad.
The training-workshop aimed to update the skills of 26 illustrators and 24 developers from all provinces in the region on the standards in digital writing and illustrations of contextualized LRs. In addition, participants must develop digitized contextualized LRs for diverse learners in Junior and Senior High Schools.
Ethielyn E. Taqued, Learning Resource Management Division System (LRMDS)-Regional Director gave updates on learning resource processes pointing out the bulk of learning resources available are on Kindergarten to Grade-3, but very few in the higher grades and LRMDS should be managed and maintained at all levels.
Moreover, Taqued challenged the participants by stressing if they cannot look for a reference, they should develop it, and also advising the participants to be focused, yet maintaining a light disposition throughout the workshop.
Victor U. Sotelo, a national illustrator from the region discussed digitization of hand drawn materials through Pen Tool SAI during the first day. SAI is a lightweight graphics editor and painting software for Microsoft Windows developed and published by Systemax Software.
Meanwhile, Jason Villena, national illustrator from the central office provided tips in creating artworks and text in storybooks and Basic Adobe Photoshop on the second day.
Critiquing of illustrations and discussion of the LR tracking system ended the training-workshop.
