LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Cordillera office of the Department of Education (DepEd-CAR) conducted an In-house Workshop on the Development and Quality Assurance of Quarter 3 Self-Learning Modules (SLMs) among the teaching and non-teaching personnel of Benguet and Baguio divisions at NEAP- CAR Training Center, Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet on Jan. 19-21.
Carmel F. Meris, Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD) Chief, welcomed the participants with a reminder on strict compliance of health protocols before reiterating the purpose of the workshop with the hope of providing quality SLMs to Cordillera learners from grades 4-12.
Meanwhile, Regional Director Estela L. Carino challenged every learning provider to shift to the new paradigm and embrace the new normal education, saying “We are clueless as to the real situations of our learners; hence do not pressure your learners to complete all the activities in the SLMs for learning happens anywhere, anytime. As regards the quality, it is found at home, on how they learn independently and responsibly.”
Moreover, the director encouraged the education sector in the region to keep the faith and stay fit. She ended her part by expressing gratitude for the selfless service of all teaching and non-teaching personnel during these trying times.
Further, the Regional Education Program Supervisors in the different learning areas reoriented the participants on the development of SLMs especially on contextualization and worked exclusively with the participants to meet the learning resource standards and processes.
As per Regional Memorandum no. 7 s. 2021, the second wave of SLM development and quality assurance will succeed on January 26-28.
