TUBA, Benguet – Benguet Caretaker Congressman and Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Go Yap underscored that concerned government agencies should prioritize the provision of appropriate funds for the implementation of priority development projects that will translate to countryside development.
Yap, who chairs the powerful House Committee on Appropriations, was the guest during the inauguration of a portion of the Taloy Norte-San Pascual package of the outer ring of the Baguio-La Trinidad-Itogon-Sablan-Tuba-Tublay (BLISTT) circumferential road, one of the priority projects identified by the Regional Development Council (RDC) and the previous membership of the BLISTT Governing Board to help in the overall development of the potential growth area.
He added Benguet is now ringing a bell among lawmakers because he is aggressively promoting the province as one of the potential growth areas outside Baguio City because of its scenic tourist destinations, the lucrative agriculture sector, peace-loving people and a home for potential economic activities geared towards improving the lives of the people and uplifting the quality of life even in the rural areas.
The lawmaker disclosed he is doing his best to make the appropriate representations with the heads of government agencies to guarantee that Benguet is provided with the necessary funding support to implement priority projects aimed at improving the state of economy in the 13 municipalities.

Congressman Yap stated that even if he is not a native of Benguet, he considers himself as one of the natives of the province as he was able to learn to love the place and the people due to his passion of bringing the needed services to the grassroots level.
According to him, there are numerous bright prospects for development in the different municipalities that should be given the needed support from government agencies so that their desired pace of development will be felt by the people on the ground.
Congressman Yap said the people of Benguet should aspire for robust development to bring enhanced economic activities and livelihood in the countryside to develop the province far greater than the neighboring cities and provinces both in the highlands and lowlands.
He assured provincial and municipal leaders he will continue to do his best in serving the interest of the people of Benguet despite being a legislative caretaker as he believes what is important is that the constituencies feel the presence of the government that is ready to provide the services and projects they could avail.
Aside from sourcing out funds for major infrastructure projects, Yap is also working out the provision of funds for the needs of the constituents in the various municipalities, especially in terms of development of the agriculture sector, tourism industry, environmental preservation and protection, among others, that will improve the province’s status to first-class.
