TABUK CITY, Kalinga  – Rep. Allen Jesse C. Mangaoang underscored that the overall development of the province which is vital in improving its current economic situation should go beyond politics so that the greater interest of the people will be the one that will be given greater emphasizes over and above the personal and political motives of politicians, especially those aspiring for higher elected positions.

Mangaoang, who is also serving as a caretaker congressman of Mountain Province, said the sourcing of funds and the implementation of projects should not be a big deal among politicians because what is important is the benefits that their constituents will derive from the projects that are being implemented in the different parts of the province.

“We still have a long way to go in terms of political maturity. It is unfortunate that some of our fellow politicians have to resort to credit grabbing, character assassination, mudslinging among other dirty tactics just for them to be able to advance their own personal and political interests” Mangaoang quipped.

The Kalinga lawmaker pointed out that politicians should individual and collectively work for what will be the best for their province and their constituents and not for any other else that tend to taint their motive in the provision and sourcing out of funds for their preferred projects.

According to him, it is their constituents that gave them the mandate to be in their present positions that is why their efforts should be concentrated in working out the allocation of funds for the implementation of development projects that are needed by the people for them to also advance economically.

Mangaoang expressed his trust and confidence to the wisdom of the province’s electorate who are well informed on the developments in the political arena that is why they known whom to vote in the upcoming May 2019 mid-term elections for the sustainability of development in Kalinga that will extend up to the remote communities if possible.

He emphasized that as early as the middle of last year, there were already individuals and groups aligned with his political rivals who resorted to various forms of character assassination just to ruin his image in the eyes of the province’s electorate but he expressed optimism that the people will be able to see the real motive of those trying to destroy his image from the perception of the public considering that such desperate acts are purely politically motivated.

Managaoang argued that it is unfair to the people for some politicians to claim that they were the ones that provided for the funding of major development projects that were implemented in the different parts of the province because the funds that were used to bankroll such projects came from the taxes that the electorate paid to the coffers of the government, thus, government is simply plowing back to the people the projects derived from the taxes that they have actually paid.

Previously, Kalinga was part of the Club 20 poorest provinces but the aggressive implementation of major infrastructure projects provincewide allowed people to have access to improved economic activities and sources of livelihood that eventually resulted to the improvement of the living condition of the people and eventually the graduation of the province from the said group of poorest provinces several years ago.
