LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The recently concluded Governor Melchor D. Diclas Volleyball Cup has distributed a total of PhP240,000 cash assistance to identified indigent residents and various organizations during the awarding ceremony held on Sunday, June 30.
Part of the Cup is a charity program where each participating municipality was required to identify individuals or groups as their beneficiaries for financial assistance, with a certain amount depending on their placements at the said tournament.
For this year’s cup, the recipients include eight associations, 2 child development centers (CDC), and other indigent individuals.
The champion team, Sablan, and 1st runner-up, Kapangan, have selected individuals in need of financial assistance for medical expenses as their beneficiaries, receiving PhP50,000 and PhP35,000, respectively.
Also, Tuba, who was the second runner-up, has also chosen individuals with medical needs to receive a total of PhP25,000, while the municipality of Itogon, as third runner-up, has designated the Itogon Dialysis Center as the recipient of PhP20,000.
Meanwhile, 4th to 7th runners-up Tublay, La Trinidad, Bokod, and Atok, selected Ambongdolan Farmers Eco-DRR Association, Tuel Coffee Growers Association, La Trinidad Federation of PWDs, Penged Women’s Association of Daclan, and an Atok Bloomers member, respectively, as the recipients of PhP15,000 each.
Mankayan, Kabayan, Kibungan, and Bakun have designated the Mankayan Association of Municipal Employees, Mt. Pulag CDC, Dosmin Day Care of Pacso, and Care and Share team, respectively, as recipients of PhP10,000 each.
This initiative not only aimed to celebrate athletic prowess and sportsmanship but also uplift various communities through financial assistance.
The first Governor Melchor Diclas volleyball cup ran for almost three months, with the inaugural game played on April 9.
