LUNA, Apayao – The Department of Information and Communications Technology-Cordillera Administrative Region (DICT-CAR) recently held the 2024 Cybersecurity Advocacy Awareness, and Promotion of DICT Projects and Programs on December 5, 2024, at Apayao State College – Luna Campus.
The activity, spearheaded by DICT CAR Regional Director Engr. Reynaldo T. Sy, emphasizes shared responsibility in combatting increasing cyber threats.
During the event, Marinel Ginez, (Supervising Political Affairs Officer) representing Congresswoman Eleanor C. Bulut Begtang, explained the importance of awareness on cybersecurity concerns, saying, “This initiative is more than technology; it’s about empowerment. By ensuring connectivity and fostering cybersecurity awareness, we are building a safer, more inclusive, digital future for Apayao.”
Gines also urged students to engage with DICT cyber security programs to become digitally literate and cyber conscious.
The DICT-CAR Team led the discussions and presentations of their 2024 accomplishments, followed by interactive breakout sessions on Data Analytics, Generative AI, and Cybersecurity Awareness.
Through this event, the department heightened awareness, strengthened collaboration, and underscored the pivotal role of ICT in community development.
DICT extends its appreciation to all participants and stakeholders for their efforts, and support to such program.
This program aimed to refresh educators’ and students’ understanding on best practices in cybersecurity while familiarizing them with the various programs and accomplishments of DICT.
